Like most people, I want nice photos of myself. I treasure the weathered snapshots of the women who’ve gone before me and marvel at how gorgeous and confident they seem. A photo where I look beautiful doing the dishes, handing out Christmas gifts, and comforting my children means everything. I want to show the real. Without it, my photos will be a lovely reminder of the way my face looked, and not much more.
My name is Sam, and I am passionate about capturing those moments. I’m a photographer, mother, wife, and have previously lived in Connecticut, North Carolina, Okinawa Japan, and Ohio. Now, our family resides on the bustling island of Oahu. I enjoy lugging my camera everywhere, soccer, writing, and I’m not a cat person but they all seem to like me for some reason. More than anything, I strive for a meaningful connection through my business, and desire to make the preservation of memories as easy as possible for my clients.
Pictures that show relationships surpass those relationships and become a different type of art. I often look at portraits of people I knew and ponder on the details of how they decided to dress the way they did, do their hair, or get their photo taken in the first place. Those stories are what I want to capture; the details hiding in the heart of life are everything.
